My friend and colleage Alex Counts, Founder and CEO of Grameen Foundation has posted a review of my book on his blog. He also reviews “The Blue Sweater” by Jacqueline Novogratz, Founder of Acumen Fund, a social investment fund.
Looking forward to heading up to NYC tomorrow to meet with my colleagues in the Microfinance CEOs Working Group (MCWG). We have a big agenda including updating each other on the progress of our respective organizations in implementing the SMART Campaign client protection principles, Microfinance Transparency, and the Social Performance Task Force. Also on the agenda is planning the launch of our first joint communication to the industry, as well as how to address the entrance of predatory lenders in Eurasia and Mexico whose practices threaten to over-indebt clients and cause further reputational problems for our industry.
But today, plan to engage in “American Exceptionalism”: slouch in front of the widescreen TV with a beer in one hand and the remote in the other, switching between various NFL games. My son ordered up the ADD channel “Redzone” which allows you to catch all the good plays of the dozen or so game, skipping the ads, challenges and those heinous “taking the knee” plays that have turned an hour-long game into a four-hour ordeal.
But, hey, whatever sells Bud lite.
