Comandantes Version 3.2

I am so proud of myself!

I took the above picture with my Iphone, and managed to insert into this post WITHOUT calling on tech support or even joining a dreaded User Group of The Fellow Clueless.

How did I do this? I went on line and googled my challenge and found someone who had solved a similar problem.

But what’s really impressive is that when the recommended procedure didn’t work (of course), and I got a message that “for security reasons” it wouldn’t take that kind of file, I didn’t give up. Instead, I first downloaded the file to my laptop and somehow it was converted to a file (ipg) that WordPress didn’t choke on. How clever was that?

Another day, another step closer to my goal of Ruling the Interwebs.

The guys pictured with me are among my oldest friends, the ones I counted on to help me understand and interpret the local culture in Latin America as we were building FINCA, brick by brick. Rocael, on the left, is a Guatemalan attorney-banker whom I first met back in 1971 when I was in the Peace Corps. He ran a Credit Union project funded by AID that was sort of sister program to our ag coop federation which also made microloans to peasant farmers. Chema was my legal advisor in El Salvador during the 80s and was one of those unique people who had friends on both the right and left. His survival strategy was that he has a tremendous sense of humor and can make people laugh regardless of their politics.

I never could have built FINCA in Latin America into what it is today without them.
